What is Contrast Therapy?
Contrast therapy involves alternating between hot and cold treatments, such as using a sauna followed by a cold plunge. This practice boosts circulation, reduces inflammation, and accelerates muscle recovery.
Benefits of Contrast Therapy:
Enhanced Recovery: Speeds up muscle repair and reduces soreness after intense workouts.
Improved Circulation: Promotes blood flow to deliver oxygen and nutrients to tired muscles.
Stress Relief: Encourages relaxation and mental clarity by calming the nervous system.
Immune Support: Stimulates the immune system to help the body adapt and recover faster.
Enhanced Longevity: Incorporating Contrast Therapy into a routine, alongside a healthy diet, exercise and stress management can help promote overall well-being and potentially extended longevity.
Why Pair Contrast Therapy with Workouts?
Workouts challenge your body; contrast therapy helps it recover. The heat relaxes tight muscles, while the cold reduces inflammation, creating the perfect balance to optimize performance, prevent injury, and keep you feeling your best.

FAQS
Can I use the recovery suite without a yoga/strength training membership?
Yes! The recovery suite is open to everyone, and has it’s own memberships for use, including class packs and drop ins.
WHAT ARE THE HOURS OF OPERATION?
The Recovery Room operates independently of our yoga class schedule. Sessions are by appointment only and are available seven days a week, from early morning through evening. Availability may vary from week to week, but our schedule is always up-to-date on our website and booking platform.
How often can I use the sauna and cold plunge?
Experts recommend around 11 minutes of cold plunge time per week, spread across 2–4 sessions of 2–4 minutes each. For the sauna, aim for 2–4 sessions per week of 15–30 minutes to support recovery, detoxification, and relaxation. Combining both in a single session (contrast therapy) amplifies the benefits for overall wellness.
Your tolerance and recovery needs may vary. Start slowly and increase frequency as your body adapts. If you’re new to saunas or cold plunging, begin with shorter sessions and gradually build up. Always consult a healthcare provider if you have underlying health conditions.
What is the difference between a Norwegian sauna and an infrared sauna?
A Norwegian sauna provides a more traditional, immersive experience by heating the air to high temperatures and allowing the addition of steam by pouring water over hot stones. This combination creates a full-body experience with a centuries-old tradition, offering a number of benefits, including deep detoxification and flushing out toxins, improved circulation and a relaxing atmosphere with soothing humidity. An infrared sauna operates at much lower temperatures and creates a dry heat environment, which makes them lack the cardiovascular and detoxifying effects of a Norwegian sauna.
What should I bring/wear?
We recommend wearing a fitted, comfortable workout attire (bike shorts, swim trunks, sports bra, tank or t-shirt, etc) for your session. A towel is required for your session. Towel service is available for those who don’t have a towel or would like to rent one. Don’t forget a water bottle to stay hydrated, and a change of clothes for after your session.
What should I do to prepare for my session?
To prepare, stay hydrated throughout the day and avoid heavy meals just before your session. Arrive about 10 minutes early to settle in and review any guidelines or instructions from our staff. If it’s your first time, let us know so we can offer additional guidance.
